Sugar Season 2019

Time to do repairs🔨. Scott’s been up in the woods these days checking for breaks and replacing drop lines where needed. Conditions are great. Definitely icy in spots and he still needs snowshoes, but it’s definitely good going.

The storms this year brought down a few trees, including some of our mainline supports😫The system is showing its age this year. We’ll have to replace those supports with more permanent poles, but not til after the sugar season. Otherwise....things are looking good to start tapping after Valentine’s Day❤️ as per usual at our place.

Things have been super busy at the restaurant and farm in terms of traffic. We think it’s all the snow❄️that we’ve had since Xmas - seems to be more than most places in NS. Lucky us! It means that lots of hikers have come out for a day and a meal. Perfect. We’ve got almost all our sugar season staffing on board so we’re good to go💪! And sugar-on-snow is now available all day every Sat and Sun...a month earlier than we normally do because of demand.

Schools are booking now - we’re excited to host kids again. It’s one of the best parts of having Sugar Moon Farm😊
