Accessible to all...
We are located on a well-maintained gravel road (provincially maintained). Our sugar camp and restaurant are only 1 km in, on the left. We are easily accessed by tour buses, motor homes, cars, motorcycles and bicycles. Once here, your can drive right up to the building.
We are disabled accessible with a ramped entrance on the left, accessible washrooms and a ramp between the restaurant/shop and the sugar camp for tours.
Easy to find...
We're on the Alex MacDonald Road
(1 km in) near Earltown, Colchester County, nestled in the Cobequid Mountains of Northern Nova Scotia just 30 minutes north of Truro off Highway #311 (Truro to Tatamagouche). We are 90 minutes from Halifax and enroute to New Brunswick, PEI and Cape Breton.
From Highway 104
to Sugar Moon Farm...
GRAVEL route
- Take Exit 18A Mount Thom/Kemptown
- Bear right off ramp
- Bear left at T-intersection toward Kemptown (#4 west)
- Take second right (switchback turn) to Earltown/Kemptown
- Travel 1 km. & take left onto Kemptown Road (gravel). Travel approx. 13 km. to Hwy #311
- Turn right onto Hwy #311 and immediately left onto the Alex MacDonald Road - this is our road and we are only 1 km in, on the left. This road is a well-maintained gravel road accessible by car, bus, motorhome, motorbike and bicycle
OR
PAVED route
- Take Exit 17 Bible Hill
- Bear right off ramp
- Turn left toward Truro
- Follow signs toward Hwy 311 (Tatamagouche and Earltown) - you'll be turning right at the first lights off the highway
- Once on Hwy 311, you are about 20 minutes from our farm
- Watch for the our farm sign on your right after you go over Nuttby Mtn.
- Turn left onto the Alex MacDonald Road and we are approx 1 km in, on your left
From New Brunswick via Toll highway south to Sugar Moon Farm...
-Take Exit to Sunrise Trail - Route 6 - and travel through Tatamagouche south toward Truro - watch for signs for Earltown (a red general store and community hall) and take the first right after Earltown (Alex MacDonald Road)

From Highway 102
to Sugar Moon Farm...
- Take Exit 14A Onslow Tatamagouche (Just AFTER Truro)- do not make the mistake of taking Exit 13 or 13A, which MENTION the Exit 14A
- Bear right off ramp
- Travel approx 3 km
- Turn left onto Hwy #311 toward Tatamagouche (north)
- Travel about 20 minutes til you see our road (Alex MacDonald) on your left - our farm sign is just before our road, on your right.
- If you go through Earltown (red general store and community hall) you've gone too far...
From PEI Ferry to Sugar Moon Farm...
- Follow the signs off the ferry through the rotary to Route 6 West (the Sunrise Trail) toward Tatamagouche
- Follow Route 6 - the Sunrise Trail - for approx 15 minutes and look for left hand turn onto Route 326 South toward Earltown and Truro
- At Earltown (a red general store and community hall) turn left onto Hwy #311 South
- Take the first right onto the Alex MacDonald Road - look for our farm sign just before that turn
