more sap!

8:45 pm Thursday Cold temperatures all week have meant that the trees were frozen and not giving us any sap.

Today, however, the weather was warm and tonight rain is setting in.  Heavy rain tomorrow.  When Scott checked the sap at around supper time, it was just trickling.  Did this mean that the trees have not fully thawed after this cold week?  Don't know!  We'll have to check tomorrow morning.

It's nice to get this mild weather after three days of freezing temperatures.  Here's hoping for at least one more boil!  The trees have not budded up the next few days could be interesting!

Westchester Mountain I follow your sap journal regularly. Sap started to flow here good around 11 pm Thursday evening and is running good today at noon on Friday. I thought we were about done before the cold weather set in as with all the rain and overnights above freezing last week the sap had started to turn cloudy. Today it is clear again. Only have 225 trees tapped. Thanks for your journal.
